The Three Great Principles

The “Three Great Principles” are the foundations of Freemasonry and are as follows,

  • Brotherly Love
  • Relief
  • Truth

What do these mean?

Brotherly Love – Being respectful and tolerant of other people, their beliefs and culture. By offering kindness and compassion to all those we meet, not just our fellow Brethren.

Relief – Practising charity and offering assistance, this could be financial charitable giving or voluntary work as a lodge or as an individual. This assistance is not only for our Brethren, our family or friends but also the local or wider community as well.

Truth – By setting and aiming to achieve high moral standards in life, Freemasons hope to discover the truth of living a productive and worthwhile existence that benefits our community.
